EAMC Nurses Celebrate Nurse’s Week

Each year, May 6-12, Nurses around the world celebrate Nurse’s Week. It is a time to recognize the profession of nursing hailing from the days of Florence Nightingale. For those of us who have chosen this as our life’s work, we feel fortunate. Any nurse will tell you, it’s not what we give to our patient’s that keeps us going, it’s what they give back to us that fills our cup.

The Nursing leadership team and staff at EAMC have a desire to give back to our community for Nurses Week this year in  memory of our beloved Maggie Delight Robinson, lost to the Beauregard tornadoes. Maggie represented those qualities of nursing that cannot be taught. Maggie was compassionate. Her smile, her touch, her eyes could connect to a patient and they would feel her presence. Planted firmly in her values, she was a source of strength and encouragement to those around her. Maggie had a servant’s heart and led by example and through her actions.  Maggie represented everything that we aspire to be as nurses.  She rested in an unshakable faith as a humble servant of Jesus Christ. I believe her message would be:

“Be imitators of me as I am of Christ”  1 Corinthians 11:1.

Our goal for Nurses Week this year is to rebuild the family home for Maggie’s brother and for her neighbors. We will push up our sleeves and build with Maggie’s smile on our face and servant spirit in our hearts. If you have a nurse you would like to honor this year, the nurses of EAMC would like to ask that you do so in memory of Maggie, to rebuild the homes of Beauregard through the Cornerstone Building fund at EAMC.

Thank you,

Jane Fullum, RN, MSN, FNP-C
Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
